From The Pastor's Heart From the Pastor's Heart is a daily devotional submitted by Pastor Campbell for the people of the world. On November 21, 2003, I discontinued the daily message: From the Pastor’s Heart. For five years we had shared these daily messages from my personal bible study. Last week I was in a Church Growth & Development Seminar in Jacksonville, Florida. While sharing the Prayer Lab on Thursday morning, the Lord brought this back to my attention. I believe now that this season has returned. So, you can expect daily – Monday thru Friday – a scripture and brief thought about that text. The bible I use daily – One Year Bible (Tyndale) – is the source of the daily thought. I invite you to share it with your friends. I invite you to e-mail me with any updated addresses or other information or even the names and addresses of those who would like to be included. In the meantime, my prayer is that you will be blessed as you join me in the reading of God’s Word on a daily basis.

February 2, 2012 But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses. “Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?” Exodus 17:3 NLT
After coming this far, do you really think the Lord is going to let you down now? © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| February 1, 2012 (Double Value) “Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’” Exodus 14:12 NLT
I thought the song went, “before I’ll be a slave I’ll be buried in my grave.” There are some things that are worse than death. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – my prayer, especially during this month-long celebration of African American history, is for the deliverance of both those who think themselves to be superior because of the color of their skin and those who see themselves as inferior because of the color of theirs. Both are in bondage and need to be free!
| January 31, 2012 My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all! Psalm 25:17 NLT
No matter the degree of the condition, the Lord can change the situation. Things can go from bad to worse; but they can also go from bad to good and from good to great. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. | January 30, 2012 During all that time the people could not see each other, and no one moved. But there was light as usual where the people of Israel lived. Exodus 10:23 NLT
For those without illumination, it’s hard to see and move; for those with the Light of the world, sight and movement are expected. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. | January 27, 2012 (Double Value From Birmingham, AL) So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:4 NLT
To be the greatest in this world is not the same as being the greatest in the kingdom. Maybe true greatness is not measured in how grown we become but by how childlike we remain. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – I pray you find your inner child this weekend! J
| January 26, 2012 (Double Value From Birmingham, AL) Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. Exodus 2:23 NLT
The one that held you down is dead! Why moan now? Don’t wait for a king to die before you cry out to the King of kings. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 25, 2012 (Double Value From Garland, TX) “No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them. Genesis 50:21 NLT
Speaking kindly is always the order of the day even when you are going through. Even when the care-giver needs care, they often still have to care for others. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – This is the last night or revival at All Nations Fellowship in Garland. God is moving in an unusual way. Service is at 7!
| January 24, 2012 (From Garland, TX) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23 NLT
Clear heart – clear course! © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. | January 23, 2012 But the words you speak come from the heart – that’s what defiles you. Matthew 15:18 NLT
You may want to have the filter checked before letting what’s in your heart come out of your mouth. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 20, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) Therefore Pharaoh should find an intelligent and wise man and put him in charge of the entire land of Egypt. Genesis 41:33 NLT
When you are ready to do the job, God will grant the interview. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – Have an introspective weekend as you prepare for what’s next in your life. PPS – It’s been one week since we laid Mom to rest. Thanks to everyone for your expressions of kindness.
| January 19, 2012 (Double Value From Plainfield, NJ) The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed. Genesis 39:23 NLT
God’s favor is not limited by your location. Matters not where you are but Who is with you. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 18, 2012 (Double Value From Plainfield, NJ) You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:11 NLT
The best way in life is with the One who created it. The Lord is like the old candy, “now and later;” you can taste joy now and have some for later. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 17, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored, just like the other one! Matthew 12:13 NLT
Jesus wants to restore the deficient parts of our lives when we hold them out to Him. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. | January 16, 2012 (Double Portion - Double Value From Plainfield, NJ) Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 NLT
There is a difference between sleep for your body and rest for your soul. When your soul is at rest, your sleep will be sweeter. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 13, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” Genesis 28:16 NLT
If you were blessed to wake up anywhere it is because the Lord is everywhere. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – Have a restful weekend in the presence of the Lord. PPS – Today, we complete the journey of laying mom to rest. “Thanks Mom for being a model of a woman in marriage, motherhood, ministry and music.” Your #1 Son, William.
| January 12, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved. Matthew 9:17 NLT
“Don’t you see the Lord is pouring new wine into you and you need to get to a place that can contain what God has poured into you?” © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – These are actually my mother’s words to me in October 1995. How fortuitous that this text is in the reading for today – the day we will lay my mom to rest. God is so good!
| January 11, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. These were the wells that had been dug by the servants of his father, Abraham. Genesis 26:15 NLT
You can tell how blessed you are when those who were your allies start trying to stop your blessing. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. | January 10, 2012 (Double Value From Plainfield, NJ) Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Proverbs 3:3 NLT
Neckties are required. Pens are necessary. Jackets are optional. If you let loyalty and kindness leave you, they may not come back when you need them. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 9, 2012 (Double Value From Plainfield, NJ) Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14 NLT
I have found that the Lord’s provision is still in the Lord’s mountain. Not finding what you need in the valley? Try retreating to the mountain! © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 6, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) So disputes broke out between the herdsmen of Abram and Lot. (At that time Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land.) Genesis 13:7 NLT
Sometimes the source of the conflict is not internal but because of the external presence living around you. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. PS – Have a conflict-free weekend! J
| January 5, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3 NLT
In the morning, speak to the Lord who created the morning, and look for the answer the rest of the day. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 4, 2012 (Double Play From Plainfield, NJ) Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. Matthew 4:23 NLT
There is a correlation between the news one hears and the healing, health and wholeness one experiences. Teaching corrects errors of the mind. Good news erases doubts in the heart. The body follows what the mind and heart agree on. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr. | January 3, 2012 (From Plainfield, NJ) I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety; for the Lord was watching over me. Psalm 3:5 NLT
It’s not so much who you see before you go to sleep as much as it is Who watches over you while you sleep. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
| January 2, 2012 (From 35K Feet in the Air) By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return. Genesis 3:19 NLT
Make the most of your ground floor opportunity. © 2012 William M. Campbell, Jr.
