To The Members of the Church on the Hill…
We regret to inform you of the passing of Edith Jackson Campbell, the widow of the late Reverend W. Melvin Campbell, Sr., pastor in the First Episcopal District and mother of the Reverend Dr. William M. Campbell, Jr., pastor in the Tenth Episcopal District and member of the General Board. She departed this life peacefully on January 5, 2012. Mother Campbell was a WMS Life Member and former Conference Branch President of the New England and New Jersey Conferences. She was also noted for her excellent music ministry to the AME Church and other communions. She formerly served as the Director of the New Jersey Annual Conference Choir and worked with the First Episcopal District Music ministry and the Connectional WMS Music ministry. She also worked faithfully at her late husbands’ side in the production of the Bi-Centennial Hymnal of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey where the Reverend Daylan Greer serves as pastor.
