Pastor's Reflection On The Past Seven Years

November 30, 2009

Reflecting on Seven (7) Years @ the Church on the Hill

To the Members of the Church on the Hill in the Valley of Love…

Saturday, November 14, 2009, marked exactly seven (7) years to the day since I was assigned to the most wonderful congregation that a pastor can have. Sometimes I wonder why the Lord was so good to me; putting me in a congregation which is so generous and kind-hearted.

As I look back over these years I can conclude that the Lord has done great things. On that first Sunday morning, November 17, 2002, the Lord spoke to me @ 8:00 a.m. in the Howard Johnson hotel here in Killeen.

Here is what the Lord said to me:

“Your assignment is to DISCERN…

1.                The power of God’s vision for this city.

2.                The peculiarity of God’s purpose in this place.

3.                The methodology of God’s plans for this ministry.

4.                The needs of God’s people in this congregation.”

Someone asked me earlier if I had done all that I was apprehended to do. I replied, “No I have not; but, I am striving everyday to reach the goal.”  The journey has been a good one. There have been many challenges and changes… many valleys and victories... many mountains and miracles.  Seven (7) is the biblical number which represents completion. The number eight (8) represents a new beginning!  While some things have been completed, there are many more rivers to cross and heights to scale.

What about the future?  Not quite sure what is next but I do know that PRAYER is one of the keys that will unlock that door. Will you join me in prayer as we seek to know the Lord’s will? I certainly hope so.

Peace.
