(Celebrating 32 Years with Jesus)

You must offer it only at the designated place of worship – the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to be honored. Sacrifice it there in the evening as the sun goes down on the anniversary of your exodus from Egypt.

Deuteronomy 16:6 NLT

Do you remember the day you left Egypt? Do you remember the day you were freed from your sin?

PS – My day is today! 32 years ago today, I received the Lord Jesus into my life.

I was filled with the Holy Spirit. I am so thankful to the Lord for His mercy and favor.

I told the Lord yes 32 years ago, and today I mean it more than ever. Yes, Lord!

(Double Play - Triple Threat)

You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.

Psalm 71:20-21 NLT

God did not cause my hardship, but allowed it as an opportunity to demonstrate his restoration power.

In these two verses, there are a lot of things that occur between “suffer” and “comfort.

God is not intimidated by my lowest low.

PS – Okay, this one really ministered to me. J

Your pattern of worship will change. Today all of you are doing as you please, because you have not yet arrived at the place of rest, the land the Lord your God is giving you as your special possession.

Deuteronomy 12:8-9 NLT

The place where I rest determines the pattern of my worship.

At that very time, Jesus cured many people of their diseases, illnesses, and evil spirits, and he restored sight to many who were blind.

Luke 7:21 NLT

Aren’t you glad that time has not changed some things?

PS – Have a healthy weekend! J

March 25, 2010

Remember that the Lord rescued you from the iron-smelting furnace of Egypt in order to make you his very own people and his special possession, which is what you are today.

Deuteronomy 4:20 NLT

Being rescued from the furnace of Egypt helps you to appreciate being made by the hand of God.

(Back in Killeen, Texas)

They had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those troubled by evil spirits were healed. Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone.

Luke 6:18-19 NLT

Hearing and touching are two sure ways to receive healing.

Have you heard or have you touched?

Normally it takes only eleven days to travel from Mount Sinai to Kadesh-barnea, going by the way of Mount Seir. But forty years after the Israelites left Egypt, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses addressed the people of Israel telling them everything the Lord had commanded him to say.

Deuteronomy 1:2-3 NLT

Past tense: What took you so long?

Present tense: Why is it taking you so long?

Future tense: How long is it going to take you?

Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am wiling,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.

Luke 5: 13 NLT

Jesus is still willing to heal if we are willing to ask.

(Daily Double from Nakuru, Kenya)

Prepare these special burnt offerings, along with their liquid offerings, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its accompanying grain offering. Be sure that all the animals you sacrifice have no defects.

Numbers 28:31 NLT

Though the offerings have changed what we offer to God should still be without defects.

The best offering you can give to the Lord is not what you want the Lord to have but what the Lord asks for.

But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.  For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.

Psalm 59:16 NLT

Do you sing because you are happy or are you happy because you sing?

My heart song today: He is a Mighty God!

(Daily Double from Nakuru, Kenya)

Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.

Luke 1:78-79 NLT

God’s mercies are new every morning but you don’t have to wait until morning to celebrate the breaking of day!

And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

Pilate couldn’t believe that Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman officer and asked if he had died yet.

Mark 15:44 NLT

When death is your destination you die slowly,

But when you know that resurrection is on the other side, the journey is shortened.

And immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he broke down and wept.

Mark 14:72 NLT

If only Jesus’ words flashed through our minds before the rooster crowed. We might not have to weep so much.

He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by.

Mark 14:35 NLT

What you think is an awful hour is actually a defining moment in your life.

(Daily Double & Preacher's Bonus)

Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had previously had leprosy. While he was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard. She broke open the jar and poured the perfume over his head.

Mark 14:3 NLT

A woman’s appreciation and Simon’s changed situation.

We can conclude that there were at least two grateful people in the house.

O God, we mediate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple.

Psalm 48:9 NLT

I wonder what would happen if we really thought about the Lord when we came to worship in the Lord’s temple.

When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation.

Proverbs 10:25 NLT

Storms are unavoidable.  How you come through them has to do with WHO is your foundation.

But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.

You will have such a surplus of crops that you will need to clear out the old grain to make room for the new harvest!

But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.

Mark 10:31 NLT

Some who make themselves great are really not important.  Those who are really important don’t worry about being great.

It’s not who you think you are now; it is who you really are then.
